What & How
Programming 101 provides you with the foundational skillset required to write computer programs. If you are interested in learning how to write programs from an introductory level in any real programming language, this is the course for you.
You will be learning the basics of editing and running programs. Then you will learn how to use the same tools and resources as a seasoned programmer to write code more efficiently. By the end of the course, you will have a general idea of how programs work along with being able to write programming logic in any language you choose.
The course is also very loosely based off of the text by Chris Pine called Learn To Program. While reading this text will not necessarily help you during the course, it may prove to be beneficial for your future endeavors.
Although this course uses Ruby, you will be learning concepts that are central to every single programming language out there.
These classes are open to all middle schoolers and up, and will be held in the library at Masjid al Salam. Remember to bring your own laptop!
